Legitimate Surveys - Answer questions and get paid
You might have heard that there are legitimate surveys, but you might have also heard of all the survey scams that exist. There might just be more survey sites that are scams, but if you look carefully, and follow this advice, you will be making extra money online taking legitimate surveys in no time.
Legitimate Surveys vs. Survey Scams
The first thing that you want to keep in mind is that legitimate surveys are free. You will not have to pay any kind of a fee, EVER, to join a legitimate survey panel. Legitimate surveys will usually provide you with a privacy policy, FAQs, and company history. If the site looks like a scam, it probably is. If they ask you to pay a fee, you'll want to think long and hard before you click the Pay button. Often a quick search in Google with the survey company name followed by the word 'scam' will determine whether or not you're dealing with a legitimate survey site. Legitimate surveys won't have lots of complaints from people who have paid a fee and received only bogus listings, or have filled out lots of surveys, built up a nice little amount of money and then never received payment. How Do Legitimate Surveys Work?
There are quite a few marketing research companies (the official name for legitimate survey companies) that will actually pay you to participate in filling out questionnaires and recording your opinions on topics anywhere from new movie releases, to your shopping habits, to what you think about a potential new product. Most of these surveys pay between $1 and $3, but some will pay $75 or more if you qualify for further questions. There are additional survey companies who look for people who qualify for their focus groups. These usually pay between $50 and $150 for an hour or two of your time and opinions.

Though these types of claims my in fact be legitimate surveys, I would honestly stay away from them. In order to actually get the offered prize, you usually have to fill out offers that are not cheap. You may be required to sign up for a high-interest credit card, an online subscription or make a purchase from one of their partner sites. If this is not the case, you generally have to weed through pages and pages of questions that are really just offers from other survey sites, some legitimate and some not.
